WE DID IT!!!!!
5000 miles - 37 days - a few side trips - a lot of memories! We first drove to the official end of the route at Olympic & Lincoln streets in downtown Santa Monica. Then we headed for our photo op on the Santa Monica Pier. It was bittersweet. We had such a wonderful journey and met so many people. And now, a memory!

But, we keep moving. We head to Griffith Park, thinking we’d drive through and maybe take a hike on a trail. However, it was packed, so we turned around and headed to Hollywood Blvd. What a hoot! It was great people watching. We just drove the several blocks. We did not get out. It was so slow moving down the street, it felt like walking. Lots of interesting characters!

Next, we drove by Jim Henson Studios. Here, Kermit the Frog stands high above the entrance gate. He’s dressed like Charlie Chaplin; and for good reason. The studios were the former studios of The Little Tramp!

Then off to dinner at the famous Tam O’Shanter Scottish pub. It is the oldest continuously owned restaurant in LA, since 1922, by the same family (the Lawrey family, as in the seasoning.). But that’s not why we chose here. This was Walt Disney’s favorite restaurant. He and his imagineers frequented the place so often, the called it the Disney Commissary. Now here’s the best part: we were able to eat dinner at Walt’s table! I sat where he always sat! There are even doodle carvings in the table from the imagineers. What a cool experience!

On our way back to our campsite, we find yet another Muffler Man, Sergio, so of course, a photo op!
We have an early morning ahead, and I can’t wait......
