We ventured off The Mother Road today and headed south to Sedona, Arizona.  A campground near town was home for two nights.  We took a twisty, winding , switchback road all the way down the Oak Creek Canyon from Flagstaff.  Beautiful views, but Dan really had to concentrate on driving the rig.  Along the descent, the mountains changed from whites and greys, to deep reddish oranges.  We entered the Red Rocks.

We were told to visit Airport Mesa for some great views.  We hiked a mile or so up to the summit and down within the vortex.  This was peaceful and grounding.  I even did a little meditating.

We also drove to The Chapel of the Holy Cross.  This is a church built into the buttes.  The views are spectacular!

A teal arched McDonald’s?!  What? Yep, the city of Sedona has a particular color scheme.  All the buildings and homes have low  profiles and the same color schemes to match the surrounding mountains and landscape.  So McDonald’s golden arch did not fit in, hence, a teal arch.  Sedona is a dark community, so very few street lights or signage that lights up.  If so, they are dim and must point downwards.  This makes for great stargazing; no light pollution!
