Today we were able to check off an adventure we both had on our list: to sail on the
SS Badger - a ship that ferries passengers, vehicles, and freight across Lake Michigan. It travels back and forth four times a day between Ludington, Michigan and Manitowoc, Wisconsin. It takes 4 hours to cross the 62 miles. The ship was launched in 1952 and is 410 feet long!

We sat on the upper deck at the stern for the majority of the run. It was sunny, warmer, and less windy there. Our rig was kept down below with all the other vehicles. It just so happened that ours was one of the last ones on, so we were able to get a glimpse of it from the stairway above.

There are many things to do aboard:
Main Lounge - entertainment, Trivia games, etc.
Dining areas (and they actually had a vegan menu), (5) Bars, Gift Shop, Museum, Gaming Lounge, Movie Theater, TV Lounges, & Private Staterooms.

I learned that if you walk 6 laps around the upper deck perimeter, it equals 1 mile. So, I power-walked 30 laps. You can say I walked 5 miles across Lake Michigan! Dan enjoyed the aft bar!

It was a smooth trip and very picturesque. We left at 2pm and arrived at the Ludington port at 7pm (there is a one hour time zone change.)

Ta-dah! We are back to our home state; arriving in style on the SS Badger!
Off to our campground. Wait 'til you see what happens tomorrow!
