The iconic sign for the Jack Rabbit Trading Post

A birthday party was on the agenda.  Who’s? Well, it just so happened to be the famous and iconic Jack Rabbit Trading Post’s 70th Birthday, in Joseph City, Arizona.  This place is best known for their yellow and red sign “Here It Is!”   And this sign can be seen in Pixar’s "Cars".  The fun and festivities included food, traditional Mexican dancers, and prizes.  We even won tee-shirts and a hat pin!

We met some pretty cool people, too.

Our new friend John Jimenez greeted us at the Jack Rabbit bash

-John, one of our FB followers, Route 66 aficianado, and the guy who told us about the bash, greeted us with open arms.  He had lots of stories to share!

-Cindy & Tony, the owners of the Jack Rabbit and the party hosts.  Cindy’s enthusiasm shows why this Route 66 icon is doing so well!

-Dean “Crazy Legs” Walker - he has the ability to turn both legs around 90 degrees!  This skill was the inspiration for Pixar’s "Cars" Tow Mater being the “world’s best backwards driver!” Crazy Legs even signed my Cozy Cone hat and gave me a signed bumper sticker!

I held Jack, the Jack Rabbit’s mascot.

I rode a rabbit.

I saw a VW Rabbit.

And I kissed a..........donkey!

We headed back to the town of Holbrook, toured the museum, took some photos, and did some grocery shopping.

Now it was time to check into our home for the night.  The Wigwam Motel.  This was the inspiration for the Cozy Cone Motel in "Cars"!  We slept in a Wigwam!  It is true western Americana.

And as we watched the sun set over the Wigwam Motel, it was time for these two buckaroos to get to sleep.  Winslow is in our future.
