This morning we awoke in Salt Lake City.  Our campground was at about 4400 feet.  As we looked across at the mountains surrounding us, we noticed we were even with the clouds!

We took the SLC Show Tour Trolley ride!  It was a journey through the historic streets as told to us by 3 entertainers!  There was music, storytelling, and comedy.  It was very interesting and informing.

Some of the sites included the Temple Square, Financial District, Governor’s Mansion, Catholic Catherdral, and the State Capital.  I was able to check another capital building off my list!

There was even a Walt Disney connection.   Did you know that SLC had the very first department store?  Or that it has the longest, straightest road in a downtown city?

We walked the town a bit, too.  We walked the beautifully gardens and pathways of Temple Square.  Located here is the Mormon Tabernacle, Assembly Hall, John Smith Memorial Building, and Brigham Young’s home “The Beehive House.” We had lunch outside near the fountains.

Fun Fact:  Utah is the “Beehive State” not because of their bee population, but it represents their hard work and working as a community.  This began with Brigham Young, so we were told.

Next stop, wading in the Great Salt Lake! Fun Facts:  75 miles long, 35 miles wide. It fluctuates in size, depending on snow fall Up to 26% salinity (whereas oceans are about 3%)

Next we headed north to Idaho!
