Elvis Ate Here!

We headed back to the U-Drop In in Shamrock, TX and were able to go inside.  The cafe is where Elvis Presley ate!  We were able to wear silly hats and sit where he sat, a corner booth.

Devil’s Rope!  What’s that?  Well, we went to the Devil’s Rope Museum in McLean, TX to find out.  It’s the world’s largest museum of ...... Barbed Wire.  Actually, pretty interesting and well done.  You never know what you’ll find on The Mother Road!

47 foot Cowboy - Tex Randall, Canyon, TX

We visited 3 “ranches”:

Bug Ranch - 5 VW Beetles buried in the ground - you can spray paint them - I tagged “R 66” for Ramblers 66 !

Combine City - several combine tractors tipped over - wonder if Tow Mater was here?

Cadillac Ranch - 10 old Cadillacs buried in the ground - also can spray paint - “R 66!”

We ate at the famous Route 66 landmark, Big Texan Steak Ranch - home of the free 72 oz steak (if you can eat it in 1 hour - including the fixin’s)! Dan opted for a small ribeye, while I had a potato and a tomato.

Station 66 in Vega, TX

As night fell over the Texas sky, we went to Station 66, our AirBNB in Vega, TX. It was an old gas station and garage refurbished to a unique Texas/Route 66 theme.  It was amazing!
