Destination: Seligman, Arizona “Birthplace of Historic Route 66.” The town gets this honor because its residents convinced the state to dedicate Route 66 as a historic highway.

Seligman has maintained it’s small town charm through it’s shops, motels, and cafes.

Angel Delgadillo and his late brother Juan led the fight to create the Historic Route 66 Association with all eight states.
Today Angel, 92, still cuts hair in his barbershop and has an adjoining gift shop. His brother Juan’s family runs the quirky Snow Cap restaurant. Be ready for some good-time puns and silly jokes when you order or eat there!

We ended up having some spare time and decided to take a spur-of-the-moment 80 minute trip south to Prescott. Here, we visited the Historic Courthouse Town Square. This town is rich in history. We walked around and ate dinner at Bill’s Pizza - delish!

On the drive back to Seligman, we experienced the most beautiful sunset. The colors were vibrant and glorious. It beckoned us back west to The Mother Road.

Our night was spent at the 1932 Deluxe Inn Motel. Kim, one of the owners, was so personable. We had a good night’s rest.
Tomorrow, westward ho, and onto Hackberry and Kingman!
