June 18th:
Now up and at ‘em and onward to Staunton, Illinois, home of Henry’s Ra66it Ranch. Henry has owned over 40 rabbits, both pets and rescues. He also owns over 40 VW Rabbit cars. One of them is Bob Waldmire’s VW Style 3! I got to pet Gilbert and hold another bunny. Rich Henry, the owner, has many, many Route 66 stories. Stop bye and say Hi!

This was a great driving day where we passed many Route 66 iconic buildings such as Litchfield’s Skyview Drive-In Theatre and the Ariston Cafe; Mt. Olive’s Soulsby Service Station, Livingston’s Pink Elephant Antique Mall, with a Lady Muffler Man, A Giant Surfer Dude, and a Harley Davidson Muffler Man! We drove by the World’s Largest Catsup Bottle in Collinsville. In Hamel, we saw Weezy’s Grill where Al Capone frequented.

Onto Mitchell and the Chain of Rocks Bridge. At one time connected Illinois and Missouri, but since has closed because it’s just to fragile. We walked on a portion of it, however. Next stop - St. Louis!
